Today’s products work better than ever at keeping skin healthy and youthful, and let’s face it, it costs much less to buy high-quality skin care products than the thousands of dollars needed for surgery. In addition, anti-aging products leave you with the face you have, just better, not a tight-looking parody of yourself.
Despite advances in anti-aging skin care products, nothing can stop the hands of time or take away the genes that created your skin. But clearly there are things women—and men—can do to give themselves the healthiest, youngest looking skin possible without going under the knife.
One of the best ways to care for skin is from the inside out. If you smoke (and goodness knows you shouldn’t) you are doing one of the worst things possible to you skin. If you love you face, quit. Now. Good nutrition, exercise and stress reduction and also go a long way to making you appear younger.
Once you’ve taken care of the inside, you can also take care of the outside. Here’s what to look for in the best anti-aging skin care products:
—Vitamin A. This wonder vitamin has been clinical proven to help skin generate new cells and help skins elasticity.
—Vitamin C. A bit of this will help your skin fight against the harmful affects of the sun, as well as keeping skin cells healthy.
—Vitamin E. This little wonder can also help against the sun while adding the benefits of an antioxidant.
—Anti-inflammatories, such as found in Green Tea. Some good skin care products include this ingredient in their products.
—Licorice—it’s not just for eating anymore. This has many healing and soothing properties that skin loves.
Take care of your aging skin and you just might grow happily and beautifully old with the face you were born with.

Most people don’t think about what’s in a skin care product, as long as it does the job. But most people would be rather shocked to read the ingredients in some of the stuff they are slathering on their faces twice a day.
Why worry? Because some estimate that 60 percent of the chemicals put on your skin are absorbed into the bloodstream. Think about it. Do you really want imidazolidinyl urea swimming around in your veins? This commonly used chemical, found in all kinds of personal care products, can cause rashes, skin irritations and may contain formaldehyde.
That’s why so many people are opting for organic skin care products because they contain only ingredients found in nature, not chemicals. One train of though is, because so much of what we put on our skin is absorbed, we should use the “would we eat it?” rule.
If you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, some people believe you shouldn’t put it on your skin, either. The word “organic” simply means that no synthetic pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers or other toxic substances were used to create it. For those who try to eat mostly organic foods, it probably makes sense to also use organic skin care products.
Not only are chemicals placed in some drugstore and high-end moisturizers and lotions, some of those chemicals can actually do more harm that good to skin. Take a good, hard look at the label of the last lotion you bought. Chances are you’re going to come across some ingredients that are actually toxic to humans if ingested. Why would you want to put that chemical on your skin?
Many products contain ingredients that are known to be carcinogens. To be fair, the amounts of these chemicals are probably extremely small and unlikely to do harm. However, studies have shown that chemicals commonly put in everyday personal care products can cause rashes, headaches, permanent skin damage, a weakened immune system and even cancer. While we would never want to be alarmist, it is food for thought—but let’s keep it organic, just to be safe.

16 Dec 2009Good skin care is more than simply putting on lotion before you go to bed at night. For truly beautiful skin, you have to work at it, because modern day life is working against you.
Some of the most damaging things to skin are found in the environment, including pollution and the sun’s harmful rays. While it’s certainly not plausible to hide in a bubble, there are some things you can do to help your skin deal with
the day-to-day challenges it faces.
—Keep hydrated. Yes, there are some people who will say drinking lots of water does nothing to help skin tone, but have you ever seen yourself after a day of neglecting to drink enough water? Being dehydrated does make the skin look
healthier.
—Stay out of the sun—but not all of the time. We want to avoid the harmful UV rays that make our skin old before its time, but studies have also shown that the sun gives us a vital cancer-fighting vitamin that we really shouldn’t do
without: Vitamin D. We’d like a compromise here. Put on a good moisturizing lotion with an SPF of 30 or more and go out and enjoy that sun thirty minutes at time.
—Don’t smoke. Do we really have to say this? One of the worst things anyone can do to their skin is to smoke—and studies have shown that the effects are worse for women than men. No one wants that wrinkled “smoker’s” face that can
make a relatively young woman look ten-plus years older than they are. Smoking restricts blood to capillaries, preventing oxygen and nutrients from reaching the skin.
—Don’t drink excessive alcohol—Unlike smoking, alcohol increases blood to the face’s capillaries too much, permanently damaging them. And no, you cannot counter the problems caused by smoking by drinking. Alcohol also dehydrates your
skin, which promotes wrinkles over time.
—Stop stressing. Stress ages you, including the appearance of your skin. Reversing this can be done easily, simply by taken a few minutes each day to completely relax to reduce your stress levels.
Remember, your skin is your body’s largest organ. Take care of it.

California Body Care, a leader in high quality skin care products, is introducing a new refining complex formulated to keep all skin types looking younger and healthier.
Its Vitamin A Refining Complex is a potent moisturizer and emollient that promotes cellular renewal and speeds up exfoliation while normalizing skin tones. The refining complex uses a process of cell renewal and exfoliation that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin irregularities.
The end result is skin that is healthier with the smooth and soft texture of much younger skin.
This youth-enhancing complex is oil free and is designed for use on most skin types, including normal, dry, mature and environmentally damaged. Containing powerful antioxidants, this is a salon-quality product designed for home use.
What makes California Body Care’s Vitamin A Complex different is its use of the Karite fruit, found on the African magnolia tree. The Karite fruit contains elements that heal, soothe, and protect the skin from the harsh elements that make our skin appear older. In addition, the complex contains a cocktail of skin-loving ingredients, including Vitamin A, retinol, natural vitamin E, Shea butter, Bisabolol, and other soothing elements.

24 Nov 2009Your skin is talking to you, but are you listening?
That dry patch on your cheek is begging—yes, begging—for a bit of moisturizer. Those wrinkles by your eyes are screaming for some revitalization. Why are you ignoring it?
Take a good, hard look at your skin right now. What do you see? Are those your mother’s hands coming out of your sleeve? Your grandmother’s? When you smile, do your crow’s feet have crow’s feet? Your skin has clear signs that are simple to read. So, yes, your skin is talking to you right now and you really do need to listen.
Here are some of your skin’s most common complaints:
—I’m too dry. Slather on the moisturizer and make sure it’s good quality product that contains the ingredients your skin needs most, such as multi-vitamins and antioxidants.
—I have too many wrinkles. Today products really do reduce the signs of aging and wrinkles. Find a good moisturizer with anti-aging retinol, collagen and sunblock. Remember that sun damage can occur even in the winter months.
—Will you please get rid of these pimples? Find a good regime with natural ingredients that keeps your face clear of acne and won’t make your face look dry and peeling. Today’s products are designed for all different skin types, including products for older skin.
—Have you seen how I’ve been sagging lately? Many moisturizers now contain skin firming elements and lifting agents that can reduce sagging and they are much more affordable than drastic plastic surgery.
—I’m “blushing” all the time. Rosacea is a highly-treatable skin condition that can be greatly reduced by today’s high-quality skin products.
Find a mirror and take a good look at what your skin is telling you. Don’t ignore those pleas for help and the next time you just might hear your skin thank you.

8 Nov 2009Get ready to prepare your skin for the battle of dry heat, cold wind, and freezing temperatures by arming yourself with an arsenal of moisturizers and quality skincare products.
For many people, winter is the worst time for their skin. Hands can become raw and painful, the face wind-beaten and dry. The heat that we need to keep warm can be our skin’s worst enemy, sucking the moisture away and leaving us with red, dry skin.
And the best defense against this all-out assault on your skin is high-quality moisturizers that can not only protect your skin against winter damage, but which can ultimately make your skin healthier throughout the year.
Here are a few tips to keep your skin beautiful in the cold months:
—Look for products that contain quality botanicals, moisturizers, glycolics and hydrants. These types of products work better for winter skin because they actually keep the moisture in and tend to keep your skin softer, longer. Expect to use more moisturizer in the winter months—you’ll need it.
—Give special attention to your hands, because they contain less natural oil than other parts of your body. Anyone who has suffered from red, raw hands in the winter already knows this. With all the hand-washing going on, you should always keep a bottle of good-quality hand-moisturizer by the sink to replace the oils hand-washing removes. And don’t forget to bring a bottle with you to work.
—Don’t forget the sunscreen. The harmful UV rays can be just as damaging in the winter months as the summer.
—Don’t forget your feet. Like your hands, your feet can also become drier in the winter months. Feet love lotions with exfoliates in them.
—When you do your facial (as you should), switch to products that hydrate rather than those that remove oils, such as clay-based facials.
—Stay away from the heat and ramp up the humidity. Humidifiers are one way to keep moisture in the air and your skin will thank you. Those hot showers and long, hot baths will also do more harm than good in the winter months. Keep the water warm, instead, and resist the temptation to warm up after being outside with a super hot shower.
