Benefits of Satin Pillowcases

Have you ever woke up in the morning with lines etched in your face from your cotton pillowcase?  As we age, we lose elasticity in our skin. Sleeping with your face pressed into a cotton pillowcase all night can cause us to wake up with creases and lines on our skin.  Eventually these lines may become permanent.

Beauty experts tell us that sleeping on a silk or satin pillowcase will allow your face to move across the pillow so that there is no stress on your skin.  This will help minimize wrinkles and morning creases.  Pure silk will not pull or crease sensitive skin.  Even skin that is dry and itchy can find cool relief with satin bedding.

Nighttime is when the skin repairs itself, using a silk or satin pillowcase can help. Your night creams can be fully absorbed into the skin and won’t rub off as it would on a cotton pillowcase. Cotton will draw the moisture from your skin, drying it out and cancel the benefits of your moisturizes and night crèmes.

I had been hearing about the benefits of sleeping on silk and satin pillowcases for a long time. A couple of months ago I heard Kelly Ripa going on and on about how her hairdresser switched her to a satin pillowcase. Kelly couldn’t stop talking about how great it was. I decided to try one for myself.

I did a search for the benefits of sleeping on satin and found articles like yours. A company called A Touch of Satin had a page with a list of the benefits similar to what you have written here. Like your article, it was very informative.

They had a large selection of solid colors and designs. I ordered a set from their black and white satin pillowcase page and I just love them. Kelly Ripa was right. I really have noticed a significant difference in my hair and skin.

If you’re interested, here’s their website if you want to see what they have. http://www.atouchofsatin.com

You have a great blog with a lot of good information!

Silk pillowcases are heaven. Seriously, go ahead and indulge yourself, we spend about a third of our lives in bed, this investment was well and worth the price! You can find them at http://www.jasminesilk.com.

No wonder my face is so dry. You said that the cream that I put on at night is just rubbing off on to my cotton pillowcase. I had been to the A Touch of Satin site a little while ago and then came across this article. You mention wrinkles on your face from cotton. I don’t have any wrinkles yet but I don’t want to get them. If sleeping on satin or silk is going to help prevent them I am going to switch to satin. Thanks for the suggestions girls. I believe I’ll go back to the A Touch of Satin website that Suzanne mentioned above and order a satin pillowcase to try. I don’t like my dry skin and I’m afraid of getting those creases in my face that you talk about. I’m excited to try something new!!!!
